Eurostat: Romania's industrial production growth ranks 6th among EU states, in Sept

The industrial production grew in 14 EU Member States, in September, 2011 compared to Sept, 2010, Romania scoring a double growth than the EU average, European Statistical Office (Eurostat) data say.
According to Eurostat, the annual industrial production pace grew by 2.2 percent both in the euro area and in the European Union. The highest figures were seen in Latvia (9.6 percent), Lithuania (8.3), Poland (7.9 percent), Slovakia (7.4 percent), Sweden (6.8 percent) and Romania (5.7 percent).The euro area's industrial production dropped 2 percent, and by 1.3 percent in the European Union in September vs. Aug. 2011. According to the data made available, the industrial production decreased in 11 states, Romania included, and increased in ten EU Member States.
The lowest productions registered in Estonia (minus 10.9 percent), Portugal (minus 5.8 percent) and Italy (minus 4.8 percent). Romania comes under the EU average, at a 0.5 percent decrease, one of the lowest in the EU. According to the National Statistics Institute (INS) data, the industrial production grew by 6.8 percent, as a gross series, during the first nine months of the current year vs. the same time span of 2010, and by 7.2 percent as an adjusted series, contingent of the number of workdays and seasonality.
The industrial production (gross series) went up 15.1 percent, in Sept 2011 compared to the previous month, thanks to the rise in the processing industry, of plus 18.5 percent. The industrial production, adjusted series contingent of the number of workdays and seasonality dwindled 0.6 percent than that of the month before, because of the plunge all the three industrial sectors were seeing.
