Overdue loans in lei surge 2.17%, and those in foreign currency 3.9%, in October

The overall value of overdue lei-denominated loans of the population and companies, reported at the level of October 2011, amounted to 9.361 billion lei, 2.17 percent higher than in the previous month and those denominated in foreign currency exceeded 11.946 billion lei (equivalent), going up 3.9 percent, according to a report released by the National Bank of Romania (BNR).
Total lei-denominated loans rose, in October, to 80.859 billion lei (plus 0.05 percent as compared to the previous month), of which 43.708 billion lei contracted by economic agents and 35.45 billion lei by the population.
Foreign currency denominated loans amounted to 142.172 billion lei (minus 0.34 percent), of which 71.93 billion lei contracted by economic agents and 68.96 billion lei by the population.
