Survey: Romanian business managers expecting drop in construction and services Nov. 2011 - Jan. 2012

Romanian business managers are expecting a moderate rise in retail trade, a relative stable manufacturing industry and a moderate drop in services and construction in November 2011 - January 2012 compared with the previous three months, according to their opinions surveyed in November 2011.
In the November survey, managers of manufacturing companies said they are expecting a 5-percent increase in output and employment.
The rising trend should be visible in the manufacturing of motor vehicles for road transportation, trails and semi-trails, in a 38-perent growth and a 23 percent growth in the manufacturing of basic pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical preparations.
Industrial prices are expected to be relatively stable in the next three months, with an estimated 3-percent rise.Production in the construction industry should drop by 38 percent, while employment should decline 29 percent over the next three months.The managers are expecting business contracts and orders for this industry to go down 35 percent.
Stable construction works prices are also expected.In the retail trade, managers are expecting a moderate growth in business for the next three months, possibly a 6-percent advance.Total goods sales should be stable, likely to increase by 3 percent.
The employers are expecting a moderate 7-percent increase in the labour pool and a 7-percent rise in the pool of business orders to suppliers.The managers are also expecting retail prices to increase by 22 percent in the same period.The November 2011 estimates of the same managers read an expected moderate fall of 9-percent in their business turnover.In the services industry, a moderate drop of 11-percent in staff is expected.Retail prices and services bills should go up moderately by 9 percent.
