Governmental credit slides 2.9% in Oct

The governmental credit slid 2.9 percent in Oct. 2011, down to 63.289 billion lei (about 14.5 billion euros) compared with Sept., but surged by 17.4 percent (13.4 percent in real terms) compared with Oct. 31, 2010, the National Bank of Romania (BNR) reports.
The non-governmental credit granted by lending institutions dropped 0.2 percent (-0.8 percent in real terms) in Oct. 2011 against Sept. 2011, down to 221.032 billion lei.
The credit in the leu currency moved up 0.1 percent (-0.6 percent in real terms), while the forex loan fell 0.3 percent (calculated in the Euro currency, the forex credit went up 0.4 percent).
On Oct. 31, 2011, the non-governmental credit soared by 6.9 percent (3.2 percent in real terms) compared with Oct. 31, 2010, given the 4.2 percent hike in the leu credit (0.6 percent in real terms) and the 8.5 percent increase in the forex lending calculated in the leu currency (calculated in the Euro currency, the forex credit increased by 7 percent).
Individuals' loans in the leu currency went down 0.5 percent compared with Sept. 2011 and 2.8 percent compared with Oct. 2010, amounting to 35.461 billion lei and loans for companies went up 0.5 percent, 10.4 percent respectively, standing at 45.246 billion lei.
Forex loans of individuals ticked down 0.2 percent compared with Sept, but rose 6.1 percent compared with the same month of 2010, running at 68.66 billion lei. Companies' forex lending slid 0.4 percent, but increased by 10.8 percent respectively, up to 71.664 billion lei.
The money supply stood at 207.623 billion lei at end-Oct. 2011. It declined 0.7 percent (-1.4 percent in real terms) against Sept. 2011 and advanced 6.6 percent (2.9 percent in real terms) compared with Oct. 2010.
