KBC, 'busiest' broker in Romania

Belgian brokerage house KBC Securities ranked first in the top of mediating companies on Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) in 2007, accounting for more than 11 percent of all transactions carried out last year, Cotidianul daily reads in its Friday issue.

KBC Securities mediated in 2007 transactions in the overall value of some 1.29 billion euros, accounting for 11.39 percent of the total trading value including shares, bonds and other rights on BVB and on Rasdaq market. KBC took part in a series of big transactions in 2007, one of the most important being Asirom takeover by Vienna Insurance Group (VIG). The brokerage company also served as mediator for the mandatory public offer launched by VIG after taking over Asirom majority share package, the offer's value exceeding 22.46 million euros.Brokerage house Raiffeisen Capital & Investment continued to rank second in the brokers' annual top. It mediated annual transactions of 8.13 percent of the total.CA IB Securities ranked third, accounting for some 7.94 percent of the overall trading on the two markets.Fourth was the brokerage division of ING Bank Romania that dropped three spots compared to the classification in 2006, with 7.69 percent transfers of the total.
