BCR, EBRD conclude agreement on energy efficiency

Banca Comerciala Romana (BCR) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) have concluded a 20 million euro financing agreement for the increase in energy efficiency, BCR informed Rompres in a release.

'BCR has been over the past 15 years the main partner in several of EBRD's projects in Romania. The energy saving is a field of interest for BCR and Erste Group, both institutions want to protect the environment and increase the general well-being,' said Manfred Wimmer, BCR executive president. The financing is granted for a 5-year period, with 2-year grace period. The maximum value of a loan is 2.5 million euros. The financing wants to back investment of private companies in the energy field in the industrial sector. The projects must observe the eligibility criteria set by the European Commission. The clients to access the BCR credits will benefit from grants up to 15 percent of the investment value, free technical assistance from EBRD appointed advisors for project eligibility, preparation of documentation and verification of project implementation.
