French investors stay interested in Romanian market
ROMPRES - Romanian News Agency - 30 Ianuarie 2008
The French investors' interest in the regional market is to be shown in the next years too, with Romania remaining a business opportunity by the year 2014, Chairman of the Union of the French Commerce and Industry Chambers Pierre-Antoine Gailly said on Tuesday, on the occasion of the Regional Consultative Committee meeting in Bucharest.
'With an economic growth rate standing at 6-7 percent a year, Romania is a country with a significant potential in terms of attraction of foreign investments in general and of the French ones in particular. The Consultative Committee was for the first time organised in Bucharest, with the debates focusing mainly on the opportunities on the market and on such problems the Romanian investors too are forced to deal with. The most frequently mentioned obstacles in the way of the business development were related to the infrastructure in general, and not only to the road infrastructure. It is about telecommunications, railway transportation, electric power, problems Romania is to solve with the help of the funds from the European Union,' Pierre-Antoine Gailly said.
The Regional Consultative Committee for the Central and Eastern European Countries is holding works over January 28-30 in Bucharest with the main topic being 'Romania, One Year After Accession to the European Union.' The event brings together more than 20 representatives of foreign commerce and industry chambers discussing the implementation of the good practices in businesses in Romania.
The most attractive sectors in the future, in terms of investments in Romania, will be the information technology, agriculture, environment equipment, constructions and telecommunications sectors.
'The French investors in Romania appreciated the market as being favourable for the development of their businesses, not only on a national level but also regionally. Many factories, not only Dacia (which is owned by the French group Renault), produce in Romania for the emergent markets where such products are very well received,' Cristophe Duday, manager of the international relations department of the French Commerce Chambers club said.
