Rompetrol acquires SSIF UniCredit Securities

The National Securities Commission (CNVM) has approved the request of Rompetrol group of comapnies to acquire a 99.99-percent stake in the UniCredit Securities financial investment company (SSIF).

Following the acquisition, businessman Dan Costache Patriciu will indirectly win a significant position in UniCredit Securities that is well above 50 percent of the share capital, reads the CNVM decision. UniCredit Securities will have 60 days from the date the decision of the CNVM comes into force to request CNVM to authorise the modification in its shareholdership as a result of Rompetrol having won the significant position. In a contrary case, the decision will become invalid. The financial investment company was put up for sale by UniCredit Group in early 2007 following a merger of UniCredit, HVB Bank and Banca Tiriac. UniCredit Securities is a relatively small brokerage company, ranked 67th of 76 in the 2007 rankings by transactions of financial investment undertakings.
