Foreign investors warn: Romania may lose the advance of competitiveness

Ditmar Staffelt, representative of the commission on foreign policy of the Bundestag, warned that any delay of Romania in regard to the development of competitiveness, because of the evolution of the internal policy, means 'costs for the European Union, but especially for Romania and for its citizens,' according to the press release of the Chamber of Deputies.

The EU investors expect from Romania a more intense cooperation in the domains of infrastructure for transport, energy, communications, added yesterday Ditmar Staffelt, before the members of the Commission on European affairs of the Parliament of Romania. He also approached themes like the Romanian-German relations in the context of the development and consolidation of the European Union in view of the growth of the global competitiveness, the Romanian-German relations in the context of the problems from Southeast Europe and of the extended Black Sea area, with an emphasis on the role of Romania in the Western Balkans. Staffelt considers necessary for Romania to continue the reforms in view of modernization, to increase the potential of the market in connection with the evolution of the regional market, in order to offer a European example 'through actions and results' to the states from the West Balkans which hope to become members of the European Union. The secretary of the Commission on European Affairs, the PSD Deputy Vasile Puscas, stressed that he has requested a bigger involvement of the EU authorities and member states in the Southeast of Europe and in the extended area of the Black Sea.
