Orange revenues increase by 24 percent in 2007

The revenues of Orange Romania increased by 24 percent in 2007 and amounted to 1.233 billion euros, according to a release of the above-mentioned mobile telephony company.
Last year Orange registered 1.7 million new customers and reached the ceiling of one million broadband customers, which is an increase by 164 percent as compared with the end of 2006.
The customer base increased by 22 percent, up to 9.8 million in December 2007.
In 2007 Orange celebrated the tenth anniversary of its activity on the Romanian market. It is one of the most important foreign investors, with 1.4 billion euros in all. In 2008 the company will also invest 200 million euros in the development of the network and the launch of some new products and services.
Last year Orange developed its broadband network. In six months Orange significantly expanded its 3G+ network, from 0 to 278 places, and launched HSDPA 7.2 Mbps in the main business areas in Bucharest and HSUPA 1.4 Mbps with the same coverage.Thus, the number of broadband customers amounted to over one million in late 2007, which is twice as much as the mobile data customer base in one single quarter of a year and a 164 percent increase as against late 2006.
Orange is part of the group France Telecom. In 2007 the consolidated revenues of France Telecom grew up to 52,959 billion euros, up by 2.8 percent as against 2006.
