North-East region ranks first as for readied structural funds' projects

Public authorities of the North-East development region occupy the top spot nationwide as for the number of readied number of projects aimed at accessing structural funds.

Three projects for re-building of almost 120 kilometers of county roads, submitted by Iasi County Council in partnership with the authorities in Botosani, Vaslui and Suceava, already have the assent of the respective ministry. Their overall value is of 57 million euros, of which 34 million euros represent non-repayable funds. A number of 76 projects were forwarded nationally, of which 32 sent by the North-East Region, announced on Thursday, February 21, director of the Agency for North-East Regional Development (ADRNE) Constantin Apostol. At the same time, he voiced confidence that this region is going to access more funds than the ones which were allocated for infrastructure, respectively 143 million euros. Projects' value submitted on Axis 2 Infrastructure at the level of the entire region amount to more than 230 million euros, 60 percent more than the value of structural funds allocated to this region. Of the 32 projects submitted up to now for the North-East Region, two are still in administrative evaluation process (first stage), 18 undergo technical and financial evaluation (second stage), three have already received the assent of the Committee for Strategic Evaluation and of the relevant ministry (last stage), and another nine projects are to enter evaluation during the upcoming sessions. In the eight development regions' top in Romania, the North-East Region is followed by the South-East Region - Oltenia, with 16 projects.
