Italians interested to open factories in Jiu Valley
ROMPRES - Romanian News Agency - 25 Februarie 2008
Closed mining areas in Jiu Valley, west of Bucharest, turned ecological, are in the focus of Italian investors, who want to open factories there. Mayor of Petrosani City Tiberiu Iacob Ridzi told Evenimentul Zilei that he will support all the serious investors who intend to start business there, which is expected to lead to a rise in the living standards of Jiu Valley dwellers.
'A businessman from Italy said he intends to open a furniture factory in the area of former Dalja mine, he asked six ha for that purpose,' Ridzi said.
According to local officials, once the area of Dalja mine was turned ecological, three companies leased lands, two of them from Italy. The price of a sq.m. of land is not higher than two euros, and the area has almost all the facilities necessary for the development of a business, the daily writes. The Romanian state spent in 2006 almost two million euros for turning the area ecological.
Livezeni area is under ecologizing now. It is close to national road 66 and has all the facilities necessary for a factory to be opened there. On the other hand, at Aninoasa, two Italian firms asked five ha, where they have already opened furniture factories and electronics ones.
