Ramada Plaza Bucharest ready for corporate travel season

Ramada Plaza Bucharest becomes operational as of Sunday, March 2, two years after the beginning of restoration works at the former Turist Hotel. The hotel is most likely to be officially opened in August, company's representatives informed in a press conference.

Parc Hotels injected EUR 15 M in Bucharest's former Turist Hotel, which became the four-star plus Ramada Plaza Bucharest Convention Center. The hotel takes up 14,000 sq m and has 300 rooms, daily Nine O'Clock wrote on Wednesday. 'This is the first Ramada Plaza Hotel in Romania. We estimate an occupancy rate of 55 percent to 60 percent this year and a turnover of around EUR 5 M. The number of business people who come to Romania and Bucharest is on the rise, this is why we consider this opening as timely, notably that it coincides with the opening of the corporate travel season,' said Ramada Plaza sales and marketing manager Elena Mesina. She said that the hotel will have starting this summer a health club, and, in two years, a convention centre. 'The rising demand on the event market prompted us to open a convention centre as well, with a surface area of 3,000 sq m and 1500 occupancy. Also, in the vicinity of the hotel, a health club will be opened in about two years, a EUR 3 M investment,' Mesina said. The leisure centre will consist of eight tennis courts, a semi Olympic size indoor swimming pool, a fitness hall, sauna, a massage room etc. Ramada Plaza is owned by the Parc Hotels Co., whose asset portfolio includes the Parc Hotel and the Best Western chain. Next year, the owners of the two hotels envisage to affiliate the Parc Hotel to the Ramada chain. 'We have in view the re-branding of the current Best Western Parc Hotel, whose renovated façade will cost nearly EUR 1.5 M.
