Mugur Isarescu estimates economic growth of 5.5-6 percent in 2008

Governor of the Romanian National Bank (BNR) Mugur Isarescu estimates an economic growth ranging between 5.5 and 6 percent this year.

‘The economic situation is not undergoing any crisis, we'll have a relatively sustained economic growth this year of some 5.5-6 percent,'' said Isarescu on Wednesday at the roundtable called ‘'Banks in Romania, the international financial crisis and the economic development.'' The Governor of the National Bank of Romania said that Romania is undergoing a test assessing its economy and risks. ‘'BNR is making an assessment of the situation as realistic as possible. I think we are undergoing a major test relating to the way we'll manage to assess ourselves as economy,'' said Isarescu.
