Sale of benchmark bonds worth some 33 million euros

Romanian Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) issued state benchmark bonds on Thursday, with a three-year maturity, thus attracting 120.15 million RON from the market (some 32.5 million euros), with an average yield of 9.47 percent per year, according to data sent by the Romanian Central Bank (BNR)
The state benchmark bonds issue was worth 500 million RON, with the maximum accepted yield by the MEF standing at 9.5 percent, with the more expensive offers from the banks having been rejected.
The total offer of the banks stood at 819.38 million RON, that is almost 7 times the amount accepted by the MEF. The nominal value of such a benchmark bond is 10,000 RON, with the coupon bonds holding a rate of 8 percent.
There were 12 prime dealers having submitted offers to buy such benchmark bonds: ABN Amro, Alpha Bank Romania, BRD-Groupe Societe Generale, Romanian Commercial Bank (BCR), Banca Transilvania, Bancpost, Citibank Romania, Romanian Savings Bank (CEC), ING, MKB Romexterra, Raiffeisen Bank and UniCredit Tiriac Bank.
