Orange Romania customer base advances to 10M

Orange Romania mobile communications operator belonging to France Telecom Group has reached the 10-million mark in its customer base, the operator announced on Monday.

Orange, operational in Romania since 1997, has recorded a rise of over five million customers over the past three years. 'Ten million clients, almost half of Romania's population, is an extraordinary achievement for Orange, which makes us glad and responsible, at the same time. We want to thank our clients for their trust in the Orange brand and we will continue to provide them the best services, irrespective of whether they are individual clients, SMEs or large companies,' says Orange Romania CEO Richard Moat. Orange Romania numbered 9.8 million customers at end-2007, whereas Vodafone Romania, its main local competitor, had 8,807,859 customers late last year. Orange Romania earned revenues worth 1.234 billion euros in 2007, up 24 percent year on year. The company currently owns a large chain of own-branded outlets, including 75 locations all over Romania, almost 1,000 partner stores, and 800 assistants daily answering the calls to the Customer Service.
