Grivco to allocate up to 75M euros for wind-power project
ROMPRES - Romanian News Agency - 17 Martie 2008
Energy business trader Grivco, owned by Romanian businessman Dan Voiculescu, has announced its intention to enter the electric power generation market, with a wind power generation project of some 50 MW.
Ion Bebi, who is the Grivco's responsible with the wind energy, told the Business Standard daily on Friday the company will invest some 75 million euros in this project to be developed in Dobrogea (southeastern Romania). He also added that, depending on how the project will evolve, the company will consider getting involved in such other projects too, with similar capacities.
The Grivco official said he was not able to make estimates on what capacity will Grivco hold on the wind power generation sector, as Romania is still an emergent market in terms of wind energy. Nevertheless, in his opinion, 'the Balkans' current hunger for energy' is growing, so that the demand will be no problem.
According to him, in no more than two years, the company will become a producer of wind energy in Romania.
Moreover, Grivco is interested in acquiring wind projects currently found in various development stages and also to associate with local partners, city halls and local councils, so as to develop other such projects, Ion Bebi said.
