Swedish company Saab, interested in Avioane Craiova
ROMPRES - Romanian News Agency - 17 Martie 2008
Swedish company Saab is interested in Avioane Craiova, which was recently put up for privatization, the president of the State's Assets Privatization Authority (AVAS), Teodor Atanasiu, announced on Sunday in a press conference held in Alba Iulia (centre).
The head of AVAS said five companies have bought the task book to submit a bid. The deadline for submitting the bids has not been established yet, added Atanasiu.
The president of AVAS said one of the interested foreign firms is from Czech Republic and the other one is from Sweden, Saab Aerosystems, known for its Gripen fighter jets.
As to the Romanian firms interested, Teodor Atanasiu said these do not operate in the aviation industry.
The privatization will take into account two aspects: the price for the stake and the investment offer of the investors, said the head of AVAS.
'We expect the plane production to continue in Craiova and I also expect Craiova to become a regional maintenance centre for all types of planes belonging to the armed forces in South-East Europe', said Atanasiu.
