Timisoara, Nottingham enter cooperation agreement

A UK delegation headed by UK ambassador in Bucharest Robin Barnett is visiting the western city of Timisoara on Monday and Tuesday to extend cooperation partnerships with economic and environmental operators of Timis County.
On Monday, the ambassador's retinue, including officials for the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire chambers of commerce and industry and experts of the Nottingham City Hall, met their local counterparts in Timisoara. The talks on Monday will lead to the conclusion of a cooperation agreement with the two chambers of commerce that will materialise in advantages to the business community of the two regions. There are currently 60 Romanian-UK joint-stock companies operating in Timis County that are running on a subscribed capital of almost $3 million.
Barnett said more closely cooperation ties should be developed between UK and Romanian cities and regions, and exchanges of experience will benefit both parties.
The main cooperation areas of interest to UK business people are environmental protection and the manufacturing of spare parts and accessories for the automotive industry.
The visiting delegation on Tuesday will attend a seminar where discussed will be strengthening local economy and improving environmental quality and the social climate.
