Mandatory private pension funds' investments in share capital: 200m euros
ROMPRES - Romanian News Agency - 21 Martie 2008
The 18 mandatory private pension (pillar II) funds invested a total of 500-600 million euros in order to attract almost 4.2 million clients, 200 million euros of which make up just the companies' share capital, Ziarul Financiar informs on Thursday.
The 18 funds have invested more than 200 million euros in share capital alone during the last seven or eight months, according to data centralised by the Private Pension System Supervisory Commission, based on information available at the Trade Registry Office.
ING Fond de Pensii, the market leader, also boasts the highest share capital, almost 63 million euros, which is 31 percent of the total share capital invested by funds.
Next in line among the most capitalised pension companies are Interamerican (29.4 million euros), Aviva (19.5 million euros) and BCR (13.5 million euros). The total share capital on the market stands at 201.7 million euros. Pension companies' overall investments, however, were much greater than those in share capital, players on the market say. They estimate total investments required to attract almost 4.2 million clients amounted to some 500-600 million euros.
