Electrica to make investment, along with Warmebetriebe, in biomass-fuelled power stations

Electrica Co., owned by the Romanian state, intends to set up, along with Austrian Warmebetriebe Co., a station production electricity and thermal energy, Saptamana Financiara weekly writes.
Electrica is currently waiting for the okay of Privatization Authority AVAS, for the project.
Around one billion euros would be invested in ten biomass-fuelled stations. Electrica strategy and development manager Bogdan Badea said green energy has become a priority in the investment schedule for the coming four years.
A traditional producer and supplier of electricity, Electrica can start producing also thermal energy. Electrica managers said they count on the long experience of their Austrian partners. In the new joint venture, each shareholder will hold 50 percent.
'By 2012, we want to have generating power of some 200 MW in such stations, ' Badea said. He believes there are financial resources for development, both own and attracted sources are to be used.
'We will use structural, non-returnable funds the EU gives for such projects,' Badea also said.
By 2012, the company intends to invest around half a billion euros in biomass-fuelled power stations, 150 million euros for the setting up of two eolian parks, 100 million euros more for the building of mini hydro-power stations of 8-10 MW generating power. The investment will be made in the areas Electrica has its electricity distribution network.
