15 companies interested in Avioane Craiova takeover

The presentation file of Avioane Craiova has been bought by 15 Romanian and foreign companies, with the deadline for the final offer being 17 April.

Thus, the Authority for Privatization of State's Assets (AVAS) has resumed the privatization procedure after in July 2007, at the first privatization call of 80.9% in the company, one single bid was submitted, from a Romanian group of firms. The companies that have bought the Avioane Craiova file are: Saab (Sweden), Grampet Bucharest, Aero Vodochody (Czech Republic), Lord Expert Consult Romania, INAV Bucharest, IMA Metav Bucharest, Jafco Holding Romania, Pro Faur Invest Romania, Alenia (Italy), MBL Computers Bucharest, Sabca (Belgium), Somaca-Gosselies (Belgium), SIF Oltenia, Safrom Trading Bucharest and International Railways Systems (Luxembourg). Ten of these companies have paid also the fee for entering the data room. The winner will be chosen through on negotiation based on some irrevocable final bids. Avioane Craiova incurred 2007 losses of 7.06 million lei (some 2 million euro), six times bigger than in 2006, whereas revenues declined 7,5% to 24.24 million lei (some 6.87 million euro). At the same time, the expenditures rose 14.3% to 31.31 million lei (some 8.88 million euros) and the turnover declined 5,5% to 23.43 million lei (some 6,65 million euros), Ziarul financiar writes. The new owner to be selected by AVAS will be compelled to maintain the activity of the company. Avioane Craiova SA was set up in 1972 and started to make aircraft in cooperation with former Yugoslavia. At present, Avioane Craiova produces the IAR-99 Soim advanced jet trainer, structural subassemblies for civil aircraft and fire-fighting equipment, informs the company's website.
