Raiffeisen Bank Romania assets reach EUR 5.6 bln

Raiffeisen Bank Romania held total assets of EUR 5.6 bln at the end of 2007, 19 per cent more than the level registered at the end of 2006, Austria’s Raiffeisen International Group, the bank’s majority shareholder, has announced yesterday.

The Romanian subsidiary is one of the largest Raiffeisen subsidiaries abroad, the Russian subsidiaries being the largest with assets of EUR 12.17 bln, Mediafax informs. The Raiffeisen branches in Hungary rank next, with assets of EUR 8.07 bln, followed by the ones in Slovakia with assets of EUR 7.84 bln and by the ones in Ukraine with assets of EUR 6.16 bln. The number of Raiffeisen Bank Romania territorial units has risen by 167 units to a total of 435, while the number of employees has risen to 5,948. Raiffeisen International has registered net interest revenue of EUR 2.41 bln in 2007, 37.1 per cent more than the level registered the previous year, while the profit before taxation has grown by 38.9 per cent to EUR 1.23 bln. The net commission revenue has grown last year by 33.9 per cent to EUR 1.24 bln. In Eastern Europe the Bank has registered a 55 per cent growth in its profit before taxation, up to a level of EUR 442 M, considering the good positioning it has in the regional markets. The net interest revenue has grown by 28 per cent to EUR 718 M, while its assets have risen by 23 per cent to EUR 23.2 bln. The net commission revenue has risen in the region by 44 per cent to EUR 368 M last year, compared to a level of EUR 268 M in 2006. The largest hike has been obtained in Romania, following a strong retail orientation and a strong customer base. The entire Raiffeisen International Bank Holding AG Group has registered a 42 per cent growth in its consolidated profit, reaching a record value of EUR 841 M (compared to EUR 594 M in 2006).
