Number of fund investors rises

The number of fund investors rose in Q1 2008 by 1.4% versus end-2007 to 84,051 people, despite the big declines on the capital market, according to the data made public on Tuesday by the National Union of Collective Investment Bodies /UNOPC/.

The biggest rise was recorded by the bond funds category - 15.8%. The net assets of the 48 investment funds in Romania reached at end-Match 991 million lei /1 euro=3,69 lei/, down 3.7% versus the previous month and 9.5% versus end-2007. The share funds (14) and the diversified ones (15) continue to dominate the market, with net assets of 297 and 300 million lei, respectively, but down 11,6% and 5,6% respectively versus February 2008. The biggest rise in assets was posted by the bond funds - 9.9%. The monetary funds (3) also recorded increases in the net assets, by 2.7%. The share funds drew a total of 17,302 participants, the bond funds - 10,692, the diversified funds - 51.249, the monetary ones - 4.186, and the closed-end ones - 463. Sursa: http://www.rompress.ro
