ASIBAN sold for more than 400 mln euros

New owner of ASIBAN insurer, the French Groupama Insurance Group, took over the Romanian insurer's portfolio which, on December 31, 2007 reported a share capital of 96 million lei and total assets of almost 1.5 billion lei.

This transaction value is of some 400 million euros, according to sources close to this transaction. The official announcement of this transaction's conclusion is to take place on Wednesday, attended by representatives of the four ASIBAN shareholders - BRD (Patrick Gelin, Petre Bunescu), BCR (Manfred Wimmer, Helmuth Hintringer), Transilvania Bank (Horia Ciorcila) and CEC (Radu Gratian Ghetea). International director general of Groupama SA Jean-Francois Lemoux is to be also present in the BRD tower. ASIBAN President Dumitru Ceraceanu is to further manage the new entity resulted from the take over of the Romanian insurance company, experts from the insurance market told Rompres Agency.
