JW Marriott posts turnover of €40 million in 2007

JW Marriott, the largest five-star hotel in Bucharest, posted turnover of some €40 million in 2007, almost 10 percent higher year-on-year, according to market sources.
Its office building brought in 25-30 percent of total turnover. JW Marriott representatives declined to comment on this information, Business Standard says.
The hotel is administered by Societatea Companiilor Hoteliere Grand which, according to Trade Register information, is controlled by Austrian Bauholding Strabag, which owns 51 percent directly and 4 percent indirectly, through an investment fund, the ONT Carpati travel agency, with 30 percent, and Alliance Overseas Import-Export, with 15 percent.The latter is controlled by businessman Fahti Taher, the new owner of the Rapid Bucharest football club.
There are seven five-star hotels in Bucharest: JW Marriott, Athenee Palace Hilton, Crowne Plaza, InterContinental, Howard Johnson, Grand Plaza, Casa Capsa and Carol Parc.
