ROMPRES - Romanian News Agency - 23 Aprilie 2008
Paris, April 23 - Rompres special correspondent Emilia Roatis reports: Representatives of the French Employers, during the talks held on Tuesday, April 22, in Paris, with the Romanian Premier Calin Popescu-Tariceanu, showed interest in the privatization of 'Henri Coanda' Airport in Bucharest, in the subway lines 5 and 6, as well as in investments in the nuclear energy field in Romania.
'I had to answer a volley of questions as regards very definite targets. They asked me about the Otopeni Airport, when it will be privatized or the subway lines 5 and 6 in Bucharest(...) We also discussed about the nuclear energy programme, Cernavoda (south-east) Nuclear Power Station expansion by units 3 and 4, where the French operators have a certain interest in. I have presented the Government's plans to build a second nuclear power station, I have discussed about a high speed train line Budapest - Constanta (south-east) through Bucharest', the Romanian Premier also said at the end of the meeting.
Calin Popescu-Tariceanu voiced satisfaction as for the interest of the French businessmen in the Romanian market, stressing that this is also due to the fact that Romania, as an European Union member state, represents a guarantee for investors, being also a state which 'plays according to genuine democracy rules, which observes the market economy rules'.
Head of the Government in Bucharest added that the French businessmen were also interested in Romania's economic outlook.
Premier Tariceanu reminded that four big French companies operate in Romania - Dacia Renault, BRD - Groupe Societe Generale, Orange, Gaz de France - each posting a turnover, in Romania, in excess of one billion euros.
Calin Popescu-Tariceanu took part in a forum organized by MEDEF - Employers Organization in France, which reunited presidents and managers of some important companies in this country, in the field of public works, telecommunications, energy, constructions, as well as in the banking field.
