KBC Group yesterday launched its KBC Consumer Finance operations in Romania.
The company will offer loans at the points of sale (POS loans) in close co-operation with the retailers who will benefit from all the support services needed to grow their own business via the KBC Business Partner Programme, according to a company communiqué. The company will also grant Romanian consumers personal loans and credit cards through its own POS network, agents, brokers, by telemarketing (call centre) and via the Internet.
KBC CEO Andre Bergen explained why the company had chosen Romania: ‘Romania is one of the Central and Eastern European countries with the largest population – 21.7 M – and with an above the regional average economic growth arte. We are confident about Romania’s growth potential that ahs become even more promising after the country’s recent accession to the EU. The KBC Group last year already made long-term strategic investments that have proved to be successful. Some examples are the acquisition of Romstal Leasing and KBC Securities Romania (former Swiss Capital). Like in other countries in the CEE region, in Romania the consumer finance market is highly competitive, but it also presents considerable potential’ said Andre Bergen. KBC Consumer Finance currently runs operational units in four countries: Poland, Belgium, The Czech Republic and Romania.
