Wholesale doubles MOL Romania's profit in 2007

Fuel retailer MOL Romania, branch of Hungarian MOL group, posted profit of over 12 million euros in 2007, more than 100 percent higher year-on-year. Turnover advanced slightly, up to 533 million euros, given that MOL operated less gas stations, due to an exchange with Petrom, daily Business Standard reports.

'The results were influenced by an increase in fuel consumption and wholesale. MOL Romania provided fuel for large companies operating auto fleets,' managing director Zsolt Szalay told daily Business Standard. The company posted a net profit of 6 million euros in 2006 and turnover of 524.42 million euros. Average sales per gas station rose 7.8 percent, the second-largest increase in 2007. Last year, MOL concluded a partnership with Dacia Renault to supply first fuel, auto cosmetics and engine oils for the car maker's Logan cars. Szalay said he would like a similar collaboration with Ford. MOL will invest 20 million euros to expand its gas stations network by 10 new stations. The company operates 123 gas stations in Romania.
