Petrom stock rose 6 percent on BVB

Oil company Petrom, the largest company in Romania, emerged as a winner after Thursday's trading session on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB), its stock registering 6 percent increase, due to higher profit estimates for 2008, reads Business Standard.
Following a shareholders' meeting on Tuesday evening, the company announced its net income was likely to amount to 682.2 million euros, some 36 percent higher year-on-year. Company officials estimate turnover worth 3.3 billion euros for 2008.
Furthermore, Petrom shares were the most traded on Thursday, with deals worth 2.48 million euros. The liquidity on BVB, including the electronic Rasdaq market, amounted to 5.03 mln euros.
BVB closed the trading session with a slight increase of 1 percent. The BET index, following the top 10 listed companies, rose 0.9 percent.
The BET-FI index, monitoring the evolution of the five financial investment companies (SIF), closed on zero, due to suspension of deals with four SIFs stocks.
