ROMPRES - Romanian News Agency - 7 Mai 2008
The 12,000 companies with Italian capital in Romania contribute ten percent to Romania's GDP, say data from Unimpresa, an employers' association representing the companies with full or partial Italian capital in Romania.
These firms employ over 800,000 people, in all.
On Tuesday, the employers' association appointed a new president of the National Council, Stefano Albarosa.
Opening the conference, Italian Ambassador in Bucharest Daniele Mancini said that the trade between Romania and Italy reached 12 billion euros last year.
According to him, this value is higher than that of the trade between Italy and Japan, it is Italy's target for its trade with India in 2010.
Mancini said that Romania is one of the main partners of Italy also in point of the investment of Italian companies in Romania.
According to Mancini, the tension created of late in relation with statements by Italian officials about Romanian immigrants in Italy must not lead to an imbalance in the trade between the two states.
