Alro invests around 1.2 million dollars in thermal power plant

Alro Slatina will invest between one and 1.2 billion dollars in a thermal power plant fuelled by coal from import, which it will built in Turnu Magurele, Marian Nastase, vice-president of the administration board of the company told a round-table conference, on Tuesday.
Around 30 percent of the total will be own funds, the rest drawn ones.
The plant will be ready in 2013, and will have 1,000 MW generating power. Vimetco, the owner of Alro, will hold 50 percent of the plant, and Iteragro, 50 percent. The plant will cover the entire energy consumption of Alro, the rest will be sold on the market. The station will allow that costs be planned for 30 years, it is built, in part, because the price of energy bought by Alro has risen significantly of late.
Vimetco and Interago set up a joint venture, which will erect the plant, with the two investors having equal parts in the new company, TM Power.
Alro Slatina aluminum maker is the biggest customer of the electricity sector in Romania, its consumption stands at some nine percent of the total consumption of Romania.
Alro was set up in 1991, as a joint stock company, it took over 65 percent of the patrimony of an older aluminum maker.
