Foreign investments on BVB back in the black
ROMPRES - Romanian News Agency - 9 Mai 2008
Net investments of foreigners on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) reached 8.8 million euros in April, in the black again for the first time in the past five months. The value of net investments likewise reached a high since July 2007, at which time BVB set new all-time highs, daily Business Standard reports.
Brokers say that foreign investors back in the black is one of the signs that better times are ahead on the stock exchange in the coming months.
'The fact that foreign acquisitions are net confirms that May and June will be subject to a come-back in terms of trading volumes. I do not think that we will return to daily volumes of 6-7 million euros or see new lows in this sense in the months ahead,' Laurentiu Floroiu, Trading Director for EFG Eurobank Securities brokerage company told for Business Standard.
Foreigners acquired 54.6 million euros worth of shares in April, and constitute the top acquisitions since the end of January. Top highs last month were registered by Petrom and Romanian Development Bank (BRD) shares, which are preferred by foreign investors.
