RCS&RDS business up to 500 mln dollars

RCS&RDS, one of the largest telecommunication operators in Romania, with operations in another five countries in the region, posted in 2007 a consolidated turnover in the amount of 500 million dollars, a surge of almost 70 percent from the previous year.

This is the highest growth rate amid those announced for last year by the most important telecommunication companies active on the domestic market, Ziarul financiar daily reports on Friday. Evaluated according to a 7.5 multiple applied to 2007 turnover, the company, which is controlled by businessman Zoltan Teszari, is estimated at 2 billion euros. In 2005, RCS&RDS had a value of 481 million euros, according to the Top 100 companies in Romania, compiled by Ziarul financiar and Capital Partners. The operator has an overall number of 6 million Revenue Generating Units (RGU) on the six markets it is operating on, up 1.2 million compared to June 2007. Each RGU is equivalent to each service (telephony, Internet and TV cable) contracted by a company client. In Romania, RCS&RDS increased the number of clients on all business units, up to 4.1 million RGU. Some of the biggest advances were recorded on the TV services segment, where the company outdistanced itself from the UPC and Romtelecom (Dolce) competitors, becoming leader on the market. RCS&RDS has 1.25 million TV cable clients and 1 million on satellite TV segment (DTH - Direct to Home), which account for the highest share of company's revenues. Internet access services clients exceeded 750,000, RCS&RDS consolidating the leading position on this market, as well. Likewise, RCS&RDS attracted 800,000 clients to its mobile telephony service DigiMobil. DigiMobil has become currently the fourth player on the local mobile telephony market in terms of the number of users.
