Agrana buys 50 percent of Studen group

Austrian sugar maker Adana, present in Romania, has bought 50 percent of the distribution division of Studen Co., which markets products under Agragold brand.
The deal is to be submitted, for approval, to the regulation bodies.
Studen Co. is selling sugar in Slovenia, Macedonia, Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Studen has been an export partner of Agrana for some time now, it sells some 130,000 tonnes of sugar annually.
Agrana is one of the main sugar makers in Central and Eastern Europe, with operations in Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and with nine production facilities.
Agrana has been present in Romania since 1998, as Agrana Romania. It carries out activities connected with the production of sugar, but also with that of starch, sweets and fruit concentrates.
