ArcelorMittal to have own power station
ROMPRES - Romanian News Agency - 23 Mai 2008
Director general of ArcelorMittal Galati Augustine Kochuparampil announced on Thursday that negotiations are under way for the construction of an own power station based on the residual gas produced by the combine.
'Discussions are in a preliminary stage and we cannot talk about company names, but they are big European ones. We are seeking a partner to take over residual gas produced by the combine. Energy is a very important field for us and we are focused on the reduction of power consumption. We have some 12 projects and we hope that three-four will be finalized this year', said Augustine Kochuparampil.
He stressed that the future power station will produce more than the 250-300 MW for the combine needs.
'The remaining quantity will be available for other consumers and this will be at the disposal of the partner we are going to build this station with. He will decide what to do with the surplus. We must have such a power station which will be beneficial from the point of view of costs. Our interest is to have a partner able to use the gas we generate because this would also bring along cost benefits', said Kochuparampil.
