MKB Romexterra – third bank participating in BVB trading system, as of May 26

Starting May 26, MKB Romexterra will be the third bank registered in Romania to participate in the trading system of the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB); the bank will thus be entitled to hold stock carrying voting rights.

The BVB Shareholders Meeting decided on Monday to amend the act of incorporation, granting credit institutions that participate in the BVB trading system as intermediaries, the right to become shareholders with voting rights. “This was an issue on the agenda discussed and approved by the Shareholders Meeting, so that credit institutions registered in Romania, that participate in the BVB trading system be allowed to act as BVB owners,” said Stere Farmache, BVB president and director general. According to BVB data, there are 75 participants in the BVB trading system, of which only the Romanian Commercial Bank (BCR) and Bank Leumi Romania are credit institutions registered in Romania; 71 are financial investment societies (SSIFs).ING Bank Amsterdam – present on the local market through its Bucharest branch – and Wood & Company Financial Services Prague – both registered as investment companies from EU member states, also participate in the BVB trading system.
