3-star hotels, luxury hotel chains have biggest development potential in Romania

Romania's hotel market will develop in the next years on the segment of the 3-star hotels, with the biggest demand in Bucharest and big towns, and on the segment of the luxury hotel chains, said on Monday Sorin Ionescu, managing partner at Fivestar Hospitality Consulting, on the occasion of the Bucharest-held forum devoted to the hospitality industry.

'The biggest demand on the market of Bucharest hotels is on the 3-star segment, which has developed a great deal in the past years. Not the same can be said about the 4- and 5-star hotels in the capital city, which do not cover the demand,' Sorin Ionescu said. He said cities such as Cluj, Timisoara, Craiova and Constanta would become targets for the investors on the hotel market, both for the luxury hotels and the 3- or 4-star ones. 'Another sector that will record many investments in the next years in Romania is the hotel-luxury clubs, ' added Ionescu. 'There are businesspeople that have chosen and will choose to invest in the hotel industry. If we invest in 3-star hotels, there is no way you can lose in the coming period, ' explained the representative of Fivestar Hospitality Consulting.
