Possible acquisition of sweets maker
ROMPRES - Romanian News Agency - 27 Mai 2008
Boromir group of Ramnicu-Valcea (southern Romania), one of the most important players of the local bakery market holds talks for the acquisition of the brands held by sweets maker Feleacul (Cluj-Napoca, center Romania).
Feleacul's portfolio includes extruded cereals, halvah, candies, Turkish delights and jelly. The company entered last year the segment of milk products. Owners of Feleacul have announced they would relocate the plant's activity either in Zalau or in Turda (both in the center of Romania).
Owner of Boromir, Constantin Boromiz, recognized he negotiated the brands' takeover. In a first stage, Feleacul would transfer the installations of Amylon Sibiu (center Romania), company held by Boromir, with the production unfolding under partnership.
Feleacul was established in 1918, nationalized after the Scond World War and privatized in 1997. The company, owned at present by businessmen Octavian and Calin Buzoianu reported last year a turnover worth 70 million euros, treble as against 2006.
Boromir group reported last year 110 million euros in turnover, up 23 percent as against 2006, reporting a net profit of 10 million euros, three time more against the the previous year. The internal bakery market is appraised at some 2 billion euros. The main players are Boromior, Sapte Soice, Titan and Dobrogea Group.
