Romania's international reserves exceeds 27 billion euros as of May 31

Romania's international reserves were standing at 27.021 billion euros as of May 31, down by 212 million euros, the National Bank of Romania (BNR) informed on Monday.

As of end-May, the forex reserves were standing at 25.129 billion euros. Outflows in the shape of interest and rate payments toward the direct external debt, payments to the European Commission and modifications in the statutory reserves of the credit institutions and other similar organisations were 868.56 million euros. Inflows, in the shape of positive differentials resulting from changes in the mandatory reserves, the feeding of the European Commission account and other revenues totaled 656.56 million euros. The gold stock remained at 103.7 tonnes. However, following the developments in the world price of gold, its value rose to 1,892.48 million euros, taking the international reserves of the National Bank of Romania (foreign currencies and gold) to 27,021 million euros. In June 2008, payments due on public and publicly guaranteed external debt amount to 758 million euros, of which 663.75 million euros are taken by the Eurobond issue maturing on 27 June 2008.
