Richard Moat, the new FIC President
Nine o'Clock - 9 Iunie 2008
Bucharest – Foreign Investors Council (FIC) elected the new Administration Board, and Richard Moat, CEO Orange, was appointed president, according to a press release from FIC. Patrick Gelin, CEO BRD Groupe Societe Generale, was elected vice – president. Also, Mariana Gheorghe, CEO Petrom, was elected Vice-President, and Gilbert Wood, CEO Hall Dickler, was elected treasurer.
Richard Moat thanked Patrick Gelin for his valuable contribution throughout the two years of his tenure as FIC president, saying that having the term is a real honour. Orange was one of the twenty -four founding companies, which participated in 1997 at the establishment of FIC. The main propositions regarding the future activity of the board, formulated by Moat, are consolidating and increasing the number of FIC members by attracting the important investors who have recently entered the Romanian market, approaching new fields, such as energy, further pursuit of lobby activities by decision – makers, establishing communication channels with the EU, mainly in relation to the allotment of the structural funds provided to Romania.
Based on recent data, Romania ranked the first within the classification of countries in central and Eastern Europe, and the second after Russia, being followed by Ukraine, in terms of foreign investments. This position needs to be consolidated, and FIC will direct efforts towards this. Moat said that he would dedicate his expertise and enthusiasm to this new challenge, which is entailed by being FIC President.
