Luxury brands on Romanian market

The expansion of malls makes the Romanian market more attractive day by day for the luxury brands. Last week the world's strongest luxury brand Louis Vuitton entered the Romanian market. Other famous world brands are expected on the market.
Cartier jewelry brand is present in Romania through dealers. ''Now they are present through dealership, re-sellers, but they want a mono-brand franchise,'' said Oliver Petcu, managing partner within the consulting company activating in luxury industry CPP Management Consultants Ltd, cited by daily Cotidianul.
As regards Rolex, the first shop of watches of the famous brand, operated by the single authorized dealer for Rolex and Mikimoto in Romania, Chronolink SRL, opened in Bucharest in 2006. The company plans to open the second shop within a few months, where it will sell the Mikimoto collection of watches.
Among Forbes brands which emerged in Romania are Fendi (10 place) and Armani (8 place). Armani entered Romania through Phylosophy - a furniture shop and it is prospecting the market in order to bring its collection of clothing and accessories targeting youngsters (Emporio).
Gucci will enter the Romanian market this November through a joint-venture franchise with the group holding a 30-percent stake.
According to Oliver Petcu, Hermes included Romania in its development strategy for Eastern Europe for 2010.
