Constructions, fourth place in top of bankruptcies
ROMPRES - Romanian News Agency - 12 Iunie 2008
Over 70 percent of the Romanian SMEs confront with labour shortages and most of them are activating in the field of constructions. The deficit of labour force in the construction sector is appraised at 170,000 workers, according to figures of the employers' associations of constructions companies, reads a release sent to Rompres.
In 2007, as many as 14,000 companies went bankrupt and in 2008 the number of bankruptcies will go up by some 35 percent, according to surveys of the real estate company Esop. In the top of the ranking , constructions field hold the fourth place, although not long ago this sector held the 10th place. Although it draws a lot of investments, the field remains uncertain especially for the small and middle-sized dealers of construction materials. Although the relevant businesses have an impressive growth pace, according to the figures supplied by the Constructors' Association (ARACO), as many as 800 construction companies went bankrupt in 2007. The lack of solvabilities was often caused by the incapacity to cope with all the contracts, the lack of experience and high debts at banks.
The crisis of labour force in constructions has a direct impact on the real estate sector, creating a big pressure which exerts on big construction companies, which cannot handle the amount of work or even refuse works. All these generate disfunctions and delays in the construction of new complexes, said Irina Peetrescu, partner of ESOP Consulting.
