Ferrosan turns Cluj plant into regional centre

Danish-based Ferrosan, a producer of nutritional supplements and sterile surgical instruments, intends to turn the production facility in Cluj into a regional centre for Central and Eastern Europe.

After it entered the local market via the acquisition of drug manufacturer Alsifcom Intermed in Cluj-Napoca last year, Ferrosan will transfer its entire production from Denmark and Norway to Romania, daily Ziarul Financiar writes on Friday. The plant in Cluj-Napoca is the company's first production facility outside Denmark, whilst the Danish company acquired, in addition to Alsifcom assets, a 5,000 sqm plot near to the Cluj-based plant. 'We want Ferrosan Romania to become the main supplier of products for our plants in Central and Eastern Europe. On the Romanian market, we will mainly focus on developing the children's multivitamin range, a segment on which we intend to become market leaders in the next five years,' said Michael Moeller Jensen, export manager of Ferrosan, a company with a 200m-euro turnover internationally.
