Coffee distribution, hundreds of thousands of euros in business

Automated coffee machines distribution has turned into a very profitable business, of hundreds of thousands of euros, after an ever-increasing number of employees preferring not to lose time by brewing their own cup of coffee.

Solo Caffe Automate, which started operations in 2005, with a sole employee, posted in 2007 a turnover of approximately 600,000 euros, a hike of 70 percent compared to 2006. For 2008, the company targets a growth of some 30 percent as against 2007 due to its collaboration with Tchibo and to the joint promotional efforts. Marius Nita (33 years old), the one who put the basis of Solo Caffe Automate, set up together with Mihai Constantin, says that the initial investment was of some dozens of thousands of euros, but the amounts were invested gradually, the money coming mainly from the two associates' savings. The firm is offering first of all coffee, as well as complementary products to its consumption, milk, chocolate, sugar, tea, and single use plastic objects as cups and pellets. The two associates' plans include company's development at an accelerated pace and an increase of the profit margin in the upcoming quarters. On medium-term, the two wish to develop a partner chain nationwide and, on the long-term, they hope that the results of cooperation with Tchibo Coffee Service will change the company into one of the largest ones on the profile market in Romania. Comir Grup as well, launched in 2002 by Cosmin Serbu (aged 28), reported a turnover in 2007 of approximately 450,000 euros and a surge by 160 percent from the previous year. For this year, Cosmin Serbu estimates a turnover of approximately 700,000 euros. His company started as an operator of coffee automated machines, so that in 2007 it has become an importer and distributor of Espresso coffee machines and vending automated machines as an official partner of Jura brands, in Switzerland and GPE Vendors, from Italy. Company's current offer includes every automated coffee distributors, of soft drinks, sandwiches, newspapers, as well as a large range of Espresso coffee machines for home or commercial use.
