Largest British investment in this country, Vodafone Romania, continues expansion policy

Vodafone Romania has recently acquired mobile telephony goods and service retailer SC Vegastel 2007 SRL, Vodafone informs by press release. The SC Vegastel 2007 SRL distribution network includes 60 stores, most of them being based in the Counties of Suceava, Botosani and Vaslui, but also in Bucharest.

On March 31, 2008 Vodafone Romania, a division of the Vodafone Group Plc., had 8,921,000 customers. Vodafone is the world’s biggest international mobile telecom group serving 260 million customers. Vodafone has divisions in 25 different countries on five continents, plus 42 partner networks. For the 2007 – 2008 fiscal year, Vodafone Romania posted total revenue of EUR 1.184 bln for the period from April 1, 2007 through to March 31, 2008. The total revenue grew by 11 per cent compared to the year before. ‘We are extremely happy with our financial results for the last fiscal year, considering all financial indicators. We continue to register a healthy revenue growth and higher demand from our customers for different types of services apart from the traditional voice ones. Further to the success we had with the launch of the mobile data promotions we had last year and to the larger number of mobile data subscribers, revenue from this particular segment went up by 84.4 per cent from year to year,’ Vodafone Romania Chief Executive Officer Liliana Solomon said. Vodafone Romania is also a socially responsible corporation. In the last ten years, the company foundation has been committed to many campaigns assisting the underprivileged and helping the community. The Vodafone Romania Foundation is a Romanian non-government organisation operated as a charity separately from the company’s commercial operations. The work of the Vodafone Romania Foundation is funded by the company from an annual dedicated budget.
