ROMPRES - Romanian News Agency - 20 Iunie 2008
The foreign direct investments will not decline below 7bn euro in 2008, Constantin Chirca, deputy director at the Statistics Department of Romania's Central Bank (BNR), told a Thursday's seminar referring to foreign investments.
'Investments will stand this year at 7bn euro, and the financing of the current account deficit from investments will exceed 60%,' Chirca said.
He added the current account deficit would stand at below 14% of GDP in 2008.
According to BNR data, the foreign direct investments exceeded 3bn euro in the first 4 months, up over 36% versus the same period in 2007, whereas the foreign direct investments without significant privatizations reached 2.18bn euro, down 2.5%.
Out of total investments, over 64% concentrated in Bucharest, which indicates their polarization.
Minister of Economy and Finance Varujan Vosganian said recently the level of foreign direct investments would reach 8bn euro by the end of the year.
