International Diagnostic Center plans 2 million euro VIP clinic

The International Diagnostic Center, that plans to develop a network of ten clinics and up to three private hospitals on the local market will set up a clinic for VIPs and top managers in an investment of two million euro, Baris Kalyoncu, company managing partner told Business Standard.
The unit will be staffed with Romanian and Austrian doctors who will come to Bucharest especially for consultations, said Kalyoncu.
The VIP clinic will be equipped inclusively with a portable RMN imaging device that allows investigations at the patient's home. In the second stage scheduled for 2009, the clinic will be endowed with a PET-CT device.
According to the paper, the only luxury hospital on the local market is St. Lukas. Established in Bucharest in 2006, in an investment of two million euro, the unit expects for 2008 a turnover of four million euro.
'Demand for luxury services increased permanently. For 2008 we plant to hit the maximum of 1,500 subscribers,' said the hospital's director general Costin Trandafirescu.
In turn, Robert Serban, Gral Medical director, considers that luxury in medicine means most commonly furniture and ultramodern design, but the patient competent doctor and assistance in the first place. 'Private clinics offer normalcy, not luxury', added the Gral Medical manager; through its national network of diagnosis and treatment centers, Gral Medical the unit is one of the major suppliers on the market of medical services.
