Economic Outlook on Black Sea and Central Asia

The Black Sea and Central Asian Economic Outlook (BSECAO 2008) will be launched officially in Bucharest on the occasion of an event organized by the Foreign Ministry, the Labour Ministry and the Development Centre of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
The theme of the study is 'Promotion of work and welfare: challenges in a global environment' and approaches the coherence of the necessary policies for increasing the opportunities for new jobs in the context of globalization, the key dimension being migration, reads a Foreign Ministry release for ROMPRES.
Attending the event will be Foreign Minister Lazar Comanescu, Labour Minister Paul Pacuraru, Aart de Geus, deputy secretary general of OECD, Leonidas Chrisanthopoulos, secretary general of Back Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSEC) and other senior representatives of governments and academic environment in the Black Sea and Central Asia states.
BSECAO 2008 was conducted by the Development Centre of OECD and represents an evaluation of the economic performances and relevant policies in Back Sea and Central Asia space.
The regional partner of the study is BSEC. Romania, Greece and Turkey are the main promoters and financiers of this study.
The event is part of Romania's demarches for joining OECD.
