Continental Hotel in Cluj Napoca, put up for sale

The building of the former Continental Hoteal in central Cluj-Napoca (center north-west), famous accommodation unit for almost 100 years, was put up for sale, Grup de lux real estate agency , zonal partner of Eurisko agency empowered to make the transaction, announced.

Continental Hotel was opened in 1894, under the name of New York and included a famous coffee shop. The building, designed and supervised by architect Pakey Lajos, is included on the list of protected architecture monuments. Several upgrading versions were denied the consent of the Commission of Historic Monuments. In 2005, businessman Dorel Tamas bought Continental Hotel through Ardeleana company based in Alba Iulia (center). The hotel has previously belonged to Continental company. After the purchase, Tamas understood that the building could not function as a hotel and decided to turn it into commercial galleries. Shortly after getting the license for the upgrading works and change of destination, the businessman decided to officially put the building up for sale.
